Ciao a tutti, oggi vi parlo di un libro in uscita oggi, Small Change di Roan Parrish.
Ho avuto la fortuna di poterlo leggere in anteprima grazie a A Novel Take PR che me lo ha passato in cambio di un'onesta opinione ^_^
Mi sono offerta perchè ho apprezzato l'autrice leggendo a inizio anno la sua serie Middle of Somewhere e proprio qui nel primo libro appare Ginger, la protagonista di questa storia.
Mi incuriosiva inoltre leggere una storia FM scritta da un'autrice che di solito scrive MM; inoltre questa serie sarà composta da entrambe le tipologie di generi.

He was tall, with the thick build of someone naturally powerful, rather than the kind of sculpted muscles of someone who worked out in a gym. His thick red hair was cut close on the sides and long on top, combed back from a square hairline. He had a strong jaw and a smirky mouth, and his stubble was nearly blond. It was his eyes that I couldn’t look away from though. They were almost the same color as his hair—a warm goldish-orange—and shot through with flecks of blue.
My first impression was that his face was arresting, interesting the way sometimes in a gallery there’s one painting that pulls you in and won’t let you walk past. Each line eases into the next, each color shades into the one beside it in just the way your eye desires. Once you start to see the details you can’t look away.
But the more I looked, the more interesting converted to handsome as hell.
“Dramatic start to the day,” he commented, eyes sliding to the spot where I’d been crouched when he came in.
“Not even my first encounter with a floor this morning, unfortunately.” I leaned an elbow on the counter, drawn toward him.
“One of those, huh?” He spoke with the ease of a food service professional accustomed to such exchanges, and the utter empathy of someone who actually meant it.
When he held the bag out to me over the counter it was accompanied by an easy smile that crinkled laugh lines at the corners of those extraordinary eyes and displayed charmingly sharp incisors that overhung his bottom lip a little, like a kid wearing dress-up fangs.
“Just in case the vagaries of your day find you needing another one,” he said.
And then he winked at me.
Not the friendly wink of a barista. A filthy, promise-laden wink that shifted his grin from charming to sexy as hell.
Come dicevo prima, incontriamo Ginger in Nel bel Mezzo del Nulla, il libro di Rex e Daniel perchè è la migliore amica/ confidente di quest'ultimo.
La sua storia inizia in contemporanea alla partenza di Daniel per il Michigan e Ginger si sente molto sola.Ginger è una donna di 35 anni, che ha un negozio di tatuaggi che ha avviato dopo mille sacrifici e di cui è molto orgogliosa: lo gestisce col massimo impegno ed è molto brava in quello che fa.
E' forte e determinata, fuori dagli schemi, tutto lavoro e pittura ( la sua passione) e non ha tempo per le relazioni, non ha tempo di entrare in intimità con qualcuno, non le interessa perchè richiede troppo impegno e adesso conta solo il lavoro.
Poi Christopher entra nella sua vita.
E' il proprietario di un negozio di sandwich vicino a quello di Ginger e i due iniziano a parlare dopo che la macchinetta del caffè della ragazza si rompe. L'intesa c'è fin da subito ma Ginger ha troppi impegni e i loro incontri sono sempre frettolosi, fino a che Cristopher non la convince ad avere un primo appuntamento.
Christopher lo vediamo attraverso gli occhi di Ginger e fin da subito sembra l'uomo perfetto: attraente, educato, rispettoso degli spazi di Ginger, si occupa di lei, portandole il pranzo e viziandola in molti modi.
All'inizio lo trovavo troppo perfetto ma poi andando avanti si capisce da cosa nasce questa sua tendenza a prendersi cura di tutti e...lo adori ancora di più! ^_^
Ginger deve imparare a lasciarsi andare e fare entrare Christopher nel suo mondo, smettendo di trincerarsi dietro il lavoro, alla ricerca di una perfezione che già possiede.
Alla base di questo c'è il rapporto della ragazza con la sua famiglia di origine, che nonostante i suoi evidenti successi nel mondo dei tatuaggi, non le riconosce i meriti e continua dopo anni a farla sentire mediocre.
Roan Parrish mi ha convinto, questo libro ti cattura e ti fa entrare nel mondo di Ginger e dei suoi amici ( mi interessano Jude e Marcus, spero di leggere le loro storie); inoltre mi è piaciuto molto vedere una protagonista femminile, una donna adulta, sessualmente sicura di sè e fuori dai canoni femminili dei romanzi f/m classici.
Aspetto di leggere gli altri ^_^
